The championship launch took place yesterday evening, with Ger Lyons, owner of the Galleon Restaurant, joined by captains and representatives from clubs across Galway.
Galway brought a 22-year wait to an end at Croke Park on Sunday, producing a display of strong resolve to defeat Kerry by a single point in a tense TG4 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final.
As we prepare for the All-Ireland Final, we are asking businesses and supporters throughout Galway and beyond to help us give the team every possible opportunity to bring the Brendan Martin Cup back home.
Player of the Match Alisha O’Malley hit 2-8 for the victors, including two early goals, while Ava Heneghan also found the net to open up a lead that Donegal could never claw back. Scorers: Galway: A O’Malley 2-8 (5f), A Heneghan 1-0, S Murray, K Banek, K Slattery 0-1 each.
The victory guarantees a spot in the league decider against Cork next month.
